However, even then, TotalAV still does better in user-friendliness here. The closest I've seen to this helpful combination comes from some of the premium segments of AV vendors like Avast. The defense works in the background, and the tools are available via a unified dashboard that launches quickly from your notifications area. Microsoft has been making a mess of its operating systems lately, and essential tools are less capable than they used to be.įor the less technically competent, it could well be the case that TotalAV serves as your one-stop system protection and clean-up utility. While these may have been useless a few years ago, they may now be helpful to some. TotalAV Antivirus Pro includes utilities like a browser cleaner, system junk file cleaner, and even an application uninstaller. Many “first-line-of-defense” solutions offer anti-malware protection alone.

One notable plus that comes with TotalAV Antivirus Pro is its number of value-added perks. TotalAV Antivirus Pro offers several helpful system tools. The real test for any defense component will be in heuristics, for which testing is more complex. It's important to understand that dealing with EICAR test files isn't overly impressive since these are known malware signatures. This behavior is in stark contrast to some vendors like Kaspersky and Norton, who love to crow about the number of detections and quantities they make. Impressively, the detections were swift and discreet. I ran the tests in a sandbox environment, and I don't recommend downloading the test files to experiment. Testing with standard EICAR anti-malware test files showed that TotalAV Antivirus Pro could effectively detect and quarantine all signatures. Thankfully, the answer to this is positive. The critical question here is, “Can TotalAV protect my device?” It goes right back to basics and boils down to the defense capabilities provided. The essential part of any cybersecurity product or suite doesn't lie in the number of features they offer.

In closing, I'm not sure if AV is able to complete a full service (to remove tracking cookies) or that the microsoft 'spy' programs are in total control regardless of any promises from any anti virus software company. There went my option of tracking cookies to be deleted. I then tried to remove it altogether from my installed programs and found it cannot be removed or disabled. Try as I have, it kept repeating my attempts to close the microsoft edge browser which to my overt knowledge, was not in use. Browser closed, but I wasn't using the 'edge' browser so I was refused the option of 'tracking cookies removal'. Then after its first scan, I was asked if I wanted all tracking cookies removed. Other than the one after another sales pitch during the initial process, things progressed smoothly. It's a new hp computer with the horrific windows 11.

A free anti-virus system would be better than wasting good money on TotalAVĪ tip from Kim Kommando gave me confidence to try AV on the one computer. I have tried to send several emails to them re cancellation of my account and have used addresses that in the past they have used to send to me, begging me to stay with them and offering a lower price, yet when I've sent to them I get an automated response directing me to the website and saying the address is unmonitored by their staff. They have no email address on their website, no telephone number and no online chat facility despite stating at the bottom that "Need Help? Check out our Knowledge Base, Video Guides or Contact us 24/7 >". The worst comes when you try to contact them - you can't. Activate WebShield on your device/s and it might stay active for a day or too, if you're lucky, then it switches off. The spam emails keep flooding through to your Inbox, not the Junk file even. They offer total software virus protection, safe web browsing and VPN but it doesn't work. Do NOT trust your phones, tablets, laptops etc.
